Allsky search of EXPLORER data |
Bulletin No.3, 2nd January, 2002 |
Kaz has made further improvements in our web site by adding presentation of the progress of the search in galactic coordinates.
Galactic center is a standard target for gravitational-wave astronomers. It is not on the Northern Hemisphere but we shall lay our hands on it soon after 1st of March. Search of the Galactic Center with EXPLORER data has already been done by ROG group. See paper by P. Astone et al. "Search for periodic gravitational wave sources with the Explorer detector", Phys.Rev. D65 (2002) 022001 (gr-qc/0011072).
I recently realized that on 19th of November 2001 we had the 10th aniversary of the first datum taken in the run from the EXPLORER detector that we are analysing. The big laser interferometers are coming on line but the level of noise of the EXPLORER data is still very competitive. You can appreciate it on the plots of spectral density of the data.
